Baby's First Gift - Wed, Dec 11th, 2013

The birth of a new baby brings with it a mulitude of emotions, causing grown adults to make goofy faces and cooing sounds as the new baby looks on wide eyed from their arms. Try as we might to deny it, babies have a way of overflowing our lives and hearts with love and tenderness. I'll never forget the day that I first held my nephew Jackson after he was born. I couldn't stop staring at him and memorizing each sound and expression he made as his tiny hand clamped tightly around my thumb. He was born one week before I moved from Ohio to New Jersey almost 8 years ago, and I wanted to spoil him as much as possible in the little time that I had to spend with him before loading the moving van and heading east.

Being a crafter, my first inclination was to create a special gift that would become a treasured keepsake as he grew up. Something that would let him know that the love and care surrounding him in those first few days of life would be something he could count on in the years to come. Most of us who craft do so because the time invested in creating a hand-crafted project is the way we express ourselves artistically for those who mean the most to us.

However, just creating the gift itself wasn't enough. I wanted everything about this first gift to be memorable. This adorable gift bag created by Carol Snyder of Little B LLC reminds me of the type of project I had in mind when looking to add a personal touch not just to the gift being given, but also the wrapping in which the gift was delicately placed.  What I love most about this project is the versatility it provides the giver for any gift giving occasion.
